Make Your Voice Heard | Vote Realtor® Party
 -
The Michigan Realtors®, in conjunction with an extraordinary effort by many local associations and state RPAC Trustees, have made General Election endorsements at both the state and federal levels. Statewide, only the Michigan House of Representatives (with the exception of one Michigan Senate seat) is up for this election cycle. On the federal level, endorsements have been made for the U.S. House of Representatives as well. You can find a list of all Michigan Realtors® General Election endorsements here:

In addition, Michigan Realtors® General Election Voter Guide Cards have been sent in the mail to all members to use as a reference at the polls this year. The Voter Guide Card displays endorsed candidates on the state and federal levels who support real estate industry issues, such as:

  • the protection of private property rights,
  • preserving the American dream of home ownership,
  • and continuing the fight for tax reforms and reducing burdensome regulations on our business.

Make this the year that you protect your business by becoming more involved! Vote for the Realtor® Party Tuesday, November 8th!

CE Banner 11.7.17.png

Within each 3-year license cycle, real estate professionals are required to complete at least 18 clock hours of continuing education* that involve any subjects that are relevant to the management, operation, and practice of real estate or any other subject that contributes to the professional competence of a licensee. At least 2 hours of CE for each calendar year must also involve laws, rules, and court cases regarding real estate. Visit CE Marketplace today to check your record - it’s already there for you to view! To view your CE History profile or upload additional self-reporting certificates, please create an account. You will need your real estate license number (Permanent ID No.), so be sure to have that handy.

For questions about using CE Marketplace and how to track your continuing education requirements, visit www.cemarketplace.net, write to tracking@cemarketplace.net, or call 844.642.6633.

*If you are a new licensee this total can change based on when your license was issued. Please refer to the Continuing Education Hour Requirements to know how many hours you are required to take for license renewal.

Legal Lines | Question of the Month
-
With the help of McClelland & Anderson, we are taking the most recently asked questions from our legal hotline and putting them in E-news. We will be featuring a different question each issue.

QUESTION:
I am a buyer’s agent. The title work shows the seller’s deceased father as record title holder of record to a small portion of the land my client is purchasing.  Seller has asked his father’s estate attorney to take care of this matter. Buyer does not want to delay closing. Should I let my buyer close before this title problem is worked out?

ANSWER:
While it may not be advisable to close under these circumstances, the buyer cannot be prevented from closing. In circumstances such as this, a buyer’s agent should give his client something in writing recommending that the closing not take place until the buyer consults with an attorney.
