Focus On Legal AffairsNavigating Commission Issues - What's Your Office Policy?

All too often, an agent leaves their brokerage with pending transactions.  How should his/her commission be handled?  Most office policies cover this very topic so there is no confusion.  If you do not have anything in writing, you could be leaving yourself unprotected.  This month, Richelle Cohen Mossler, IAR General Counsel, discusses a recent Iowa decision where the court held an agent was owed the entire commission amount even though the closings were pending when she left that brokerage.

Sellers Disclosure Q & A

Please remember, the Legal Hotline (1-800-444-5472) is available to assist principal or managing brokers and their designated agents between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
