DAR Makes the REALTOR Party Success Stories: Last November, the Delaware Association of REALTORS used a Smart Growth Grant from NAR to co-sponsor the Complete Communities Summit in Dover. Commercial REALTOR and past DAR President, Phil McGinnis, worked with the state’s Department of Transportation, the Office of State Planning Coordination, and the University of Delaware’s Institute for Public Administration to plan the event. DNREC Stormwater and Sediment Regulations: There will be a public hearing on DNREC's new Stormwater and Sediment Regulations on April 23rd at 6:00pm in the DNREC auditorium at the Richardson and Robbins building (89 King’s Highway), in Dover. The public comment period will be open until May 8th, which is 15 days after the public hearing. U of D Workshop Summary: The University of Delaware's Institute for Public Administration held a workshop in February called State and Local Government Regulatory Barriers to Creating Complete Communities in Delaware. You can read a summary of the Workshop HERE. Upcoming workshops will be held on April 10, 2013 with Delaware regulators, and May 29, 2013 with elected officials and decision makers. NAR President Testifies About Importance of FHA: The U.S. Congress is looking at what to do about the Federal Housing Administration’s dwindling reserves. In testimony before a Senate panel earlier this month, NAR President Gary Thomas made a strong case for careful action by Congress as it decides what, if anything, it should do. He shared with lawmakers the compelling story of how FHA stepped in at a critical juncture and through little fault of its own, took a hit to its reserves. In a sense it saved the economy from a much bigger blow but it did so at the expense of its own reserve fund. Read More/View Video
