REALTOR® PAC Year a Resounding Success!

Are you aware that NAR expects every member in each state association to invest $15 (NAR fair share) in the  REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC)? RPAC funds are then invested equally between the national, state, and local associations to directly impact political issues and private property rights in each area.

RPAC logoWe are extremely proud to announce that OAR has already exceeded its fair share for the first time in many years…with almost two months remaining in the RPAC year!

38% increase in investments ($186,500 total)

18% increase in investors (2,820 total)

1,354 new investors ($63,816 extra dollars so far this year)

45 major investors ($1,000+)… highest number ever!

You’ve really stepped up. And the numbers prove it! Congratulations, REALTORS®!!

Governor Kitzhaber to Call a Special Session on September 30, 2013

Governor Kitzhaber and legislative leaders agreed to a framework to strengthen education funding by $140 million to restore lost school days and provide tuition relief for Oregon students this school year. The agreement reached by leadership is a bi-partisan effort to find cost savings through additional PERS reforms and new revenue (not including eliminating the mortgage interest deduction) to fund education, mental health, and senior services. Additionally, this framework also provides tax relief to small businesses by lowering the rate on pass-through business income.

The legislature is expected to assemble on September 30th to discuss the details of the legislation with a goal of passing a series of legislation that has been termed the “Grand Bargain” since the closing days of the 2013 Legislative Session. The Governor has said he will only agree if all of the legislation ends up on his desk for signing. The Oregon Association of REALTORS® will closely follow legislative discussions to protect the mortgage interest deduction and tax incentives for homeownership.

Navigating Short Sale Complications

Q: I have a seller I've been helping with a short sale for several months. We have a sale agreement approved. The all cash buyer was ready to fund, but a couple days prior to the close my seller filed bankruptcy. Now we have been working on getting court approval for the sale and the trustee said they will not approve of any short sales... Read More ›

REALTORS® Roll for a Reason

REALTORS® stepped up for a good cause again at the 2nd annual WFG National Title Big Le-Bocce Charity Bocce Ball Tournament on Aug. 22 at Oaks Amusement Park in Portland. While this foursome didn’t win any titles, what they lacked in points they made up for in spirit. Go team!
