Call for Action & Flood Insurance Toolkit Now Available

The issue of flood insurance reform looms large these days. Nationally, NAR applauded the effort earlier this month of the introduction of the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act in both the House and Senate. This legislation will aim to fix some of the unintended consequences from the implementation of the 2012 Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act. Among other things, the bill will prevent the rate hikes from going into effect until FEMA can conduct an affordability study.

Call For Action

But we’re not out of the woods yet! Look for and complete the national Call for Action which asks members of both the House and Senate to bring the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act (H.R. 3370 and S. 1610) to the floor for immediate consideration and vote in each chamber.

In the meantime, OAR has prepared for you a Flood Insurance Toolkit which has resources and links to detailed information on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to help answer your questions about the upcoming changes.
