Major Deadline Passes – Outcomes for 2015 Legislative Session Come to Focus!

On Tuesday, April 21 the first major self-imposed deadline came to pass at the Legislative Assembly. Known as the “Chamber of Origin” deadline, with few exceptions, bills that did not make it out of the committee of origin (the first committee to which the bill was assigned to be worked) are now dead. For the Oregon Association of REALTORS®, this is half-time. Time to reflect on our successes of the session – what we’ve won, what we’ve lost, and what we need to do between now and the end of session. Latest Drones Policy

DronesOn March 25, 2015, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced an interim policy covering drone use that will remain in effect until it issues a final version of a proposed small unmanned aircraft (UAS) rule. HOME Foundation Going Strong

HOME Foundation LogoThe HOME Foundation is YOUR charity to raise and distribute funds to other non-profit organizations that are doing the “boots on the ground” work to support affordable housing in Oregon. Fundraising has gotten off to a great start this year! The Rogue Valley Association of REALTORS® raised a record-setting $24,000 at their annual Food & Wine Classic in Medford on Mar. 19. And we added another $1,000 at the OAR Board of Directors meeting during Spring Governance last week. You can give anytime give anytime (open "How to Participate" accordion and click on donate). $10,000 Grants Available for Volunteer Work

REALTOR Mag GrantsREALTOR® Magazine is seeking nominees for the Good Neighbor Awards, which recognize REALTORS® who make an extraordinary impact through volunteer work. Oregon hasn’t had a winner since 2007 (Bert Waugh). This year, could it be YOU? Five winners from across the nation will be recognized at the 2015 REALTORS® Conference & Expo in San Diego and will receive travel expenses to attend the show in November and a $10,000 grant for their community cause.
