In 2013, the Quality of Life Committee awarded six gifts totaling $5,000 to the following organizations:

Tannis Kobold, Realtor®

Tannis

A donation was made to fellow Realtor® Tannis Kobold to assist her in paying medical bills following an accident in 2012.

Forever Families

Forever Families

Members of our Quality of Life committee presented a check to Forever Families to help fund its Family Adoption Prom. The Prom gives families of adopted and foster kids a chance to get together with their own families as well as other families to have a fun night.

Forever Families provides support for parents of foster and adopted children by providing them with support groups, trainings on various parenting techniques, respite events and respite retreats.

The Compassionate Friends

Compassionate Friends

Members of the Quality of Life Committee presented Arlene Priest of The Compassionate Friends with a donation to help fund a life-size bronze angel statue which will be placed in the Sanctuary at Rose Park. The Sanctuary features a floral garden, benches and two brick walkways with the names of nearly 500 children who have died.

The Compassionate Friends is a mutual assistance, self-help organization offering friendship, understanding and hope to bereaved families. The primary purpose is to assist them in positive resolution of the grief experienced upon the death of a child and to support their efforts to achieve physical and emotional health.

Billings Junior Woman's Club Children's Foundation

Junior Womans Club

Linda Altwine and Gayle Carter of Billings Junior Woman's Club are presented with a donation for its Children's Foundation program Books for Babies and... You! The donation will help purchase board books that will be given to each baby born at the two Billings hospitals.

The Billings Junior Woman's Club is part of an international women's organization dedicated to community development by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. Its Children's Foundation is dedicated to promoting children's health and educational opportunities.
  

Young Families Early Head Start

Young Families

Members of the Quality of Life Committee presented participants in Young Families Early Head Start a donation to help fund its mental health services and Healthy Relationships class. In combination, the class and mental health services lead to practical steps toward positive outcomes for both young parents and their children.

Young Families Early Head Start provides assistance and support services for low-income, primarily teen parents and prenatal parents in pursuit of their educational goals and the development of their parenting skills, while providing comprehensive, quality child care for their families and toddlers from birth to age three, including children with disabilities.

The Lutheran Center

Lutheran Center

Representatives from The Lutheran Center were presented with a donation from the Quality of Life Committee to assist in the purchase of items for its kitchen and dining room common areas.

The Lutheran Center serves medical patients and their families with an affordable and relaxing home during their hospital stay and clinic treatments. The house offers physical and emotional respite during stressful times.
